About Us

Hello! We are Choose Reuse, a group of high schoolers dedicated to spreading awareness on the importance of and the rules to recycling. Through our workshops, social media, and other forms of outreach, we hope to spread our message of 'plastic with a purpose'.

Our main purpose as a group is to run workshops, where we teach elementary-aged students about proper recycling through fun and educational games! We would love to host a workshop at your school/community center! They average about 1.5 hours, perfect for a fun after school activity to be offered at your school.

What we do

Choose Reuse uses in-person workshops, social media, and other methods of outreach to inform people about the importance of recycling. We know how important it is to keep up with these methods, being teenagers & students ourselves. Here are a few things we do:

Workshops

We host a few workshops each month at schools around San Jose focusing on recycling.

Flyers

We design (recyclable) flyers that we can distribute to businesses, homes, and schools that can easily display rules for recycling.

Online outreach

We share infographics & our own stories learning about the environment through our social media, geared at our peers (in our age group).

Recycling

We collect plastic bottles & aluminum cans, and ensure they are properly recycled!

Workshops

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about our workshops. If your question is not answered here, feel free to reach out to us!

  • What do your workshops cover?

Our workshops use games to introduce elementary-school age children to recycling and upcycling. A few examples of games we might play at the workshops are a trash can relay (to sort recyclables vs. trash), aluminum can stacking, and a water bottle relay.

  • We’ve seen the most positive feedback from our workshops at elementary schools, and our games are mostly designed with this age group in mind. However, we are also able to adjust our workshops to be more informational (but still fun!) for the middle and high school level.

  • Not at all! Our only mission is to bring awareness to the importance of caring for our world, and our point of 'plastic with a purpose'. We reuse our workshop materials (cleaned bottles, cans, etc.), so there is no additional cost from these either.

  • These workshops are completely safe, materials wise. For games that involve students moving around (like the relays), we are not responsible for any injuries that may happen. However, we try to minimize the risks involved with these workshops, and we still ask that a teacher/supervisor be present while we run the workshops.

  • We're not looking to make a profit - we truly enjoy and believe in bringing environment education to the elementary school level. We've also been able to run workshops at schools and libraries before, and we've learned a lot along the way. You will always receive our 110% effort. Although we are only high schoolers, we hope you'll give us a chance!
